Life at the Park Avenue 'Street Live'

Dear Friends,

It's been a while since we played at the street. I have been playing worship songs with several worship bands at the Park Avenue street (At the entrance of our church-Okinawa Daiichi Baptist Church) 'Street Live' has been an on-going ministry of our church since 2003. We've had Cross Over Band (Church Band), Calvary Chapel Worship Band, Tim Newell (Hip Hop artist), and Go-Yeah Chanpuru! worship band play at the 'Street Live.' I have paired with Regin Rodriguez on Sax and played several 'Street Live.'

Over the past years, during the 'Street Live' we've had people receive Jesus and seen hundreds of people (Japanese) hear about Jesus. Our worship evangelism, as we worship God through His praise songs, creates an atmosphere for God's power to reach upon the street and the people who come to watch. A remarkable experience was that of last year when a national tourism business magazine called 'Okinawa Life' printed a caption and picture of the 'Street Live'. The photojournalist was surprised to find a Christian Church with a band playing music at the street. To many Japanese, a church is "stereotype" of a Catholic church where only massive pipe organs are played and worshipers kneel, pronounce 'Hail Mary's' etc. No wonder they were surprised to see Christians playing Blues etc.

Anyway, this month's 'Street Live' is scheduled for June 17th. This time we want to bring in some rock taste and our regular taste of Jazz improvisation, that is, with Regin Rodriguez on the Sax.

This month's new feature would be to watch, listen to Andrew Hall on lead guitar. A young guitarist whose talents are amazing; a young lad who loves the Lord and has a pocket full of guitar riffs along his sleeves.

See you at 4:00 pm, June 17th. Don't miss-Park Avenue or some knows the street as BC street.

See ya!

Vee
